Perks of being a WestJetter !

Good Evening Bloggers !

Have you ever worked for a company that made you to put in countless hours of your hard work for them ?

Using your precious hours to compile numbers onto a spreadsheet or even simply just baking croissants and bagels for that fast food restaurant all day ?

Just to ONLY earn a cheque based on the precious hours you spent on the company but not your efforts ?

I know I have....

After these experiences, I ask myself a few simple questions ..
Whats in it for me ?
Is this how I want to be recognized and rewarded for my work ?
Certainly not ! and I don't think anyone who puts their passion, sweat and hard effort into their job would prefer to be rewarded like so.

Luckily, there are companies out there who give back to their representatives that go the extra mile to put %100 of dedication and hard work into the company. Company's like  WestJet are one of the few that give back more !

At WestJet Airlines, they provide you with perks such as:

  • The Employee Share Purchase plan
      - Allowing you to earn up to 20% of your gross salary in WesJet shares !
  • Profit Sharing
  • Travel Privileges
    • discounts for you,your family
    • annual buddy passes
    • industry related discount with WesJet partners
  • Health and dental insurance

These great perks are what make WestJet a terrific company to be a part of. They treat you like family, not just an employee !

A deeper look inside the WestJet team !

Hellow fellow bloggers !

The use of communication in a workplace can set the tone for how well employees function throughout the day. Ineffective communication can hinder productivity and create chaos within different parts of the corporate ladder in regular day to day operations. An effective way to help establish effective communication in a workplace is to work in teams. Teams allow employees to think together process and act more productively

In order for WestJetter’s (WestJet representatives) to maximize their productive capacity, they create a team playing atmosphere for their workers to be in. The company ensures that every representative follows principles that would help bring out the best in their service.

In 2012 Vice president of people relations and culture WestJet, Tyler Matheson used 8 principles to that help WestJet win the Best Flight Attendant awards in Canada.

These principles are…..

1. Define and perpetuate your culture
2. Cultivate an ownership mentality
3. Care
4. Make the Employee and guest experiences the same
5. Empower the flight attendants
6. Have visible leadership
7. Engage with employees
8 .Keep innovating

These are just a few of many principles that WestJetter’s follow. Addionally, Ceo Gregg Sarestky’s mentions that his WestJetters must “Read your audience” to be able to adapt and treat their guests appropriately  !

Have you ever been in a workplace that always pushed you to follow certain rules and principles in your work ? if so, share them !

What makes WestJet’s stand out from the rest !

Many companies nowadays have built their business strategies around finding ways to rack up profits. Strategies such as: charging you extra, giving you a smaller amount for the same price or even reducing the quality of the product. But what is a company's main source of profits ?

YOU the consumers of course !

Unlike most companies, WestJet is one of the few companies that like to put their customers first before their profits. It is because of this philosophy that they are successful in today's airline industry ! It makes sense right? Benefit the customer, have them spread good word of mouth about the company and they’ll return (maybe with even more people !) .
To add onto how much WestJet values their customers, they are considered and treated as "guests". Yes. not passengers, not customers. Guest. One great marketing tool that WestJet had launched to show their guests that they truly value customer care was the “Care-antee” campaign. Bob Cummings launched this public commitment campaign in 2009 and calls it a “set of promises we vow to uphold in the good times and bad”.
I found this campaign to be a thoughtful and innovative way to take customer care to a new level and amplify what most airlines give.

For Example,
Most airlines make similar guarantees such as:
- Making sure your flight is safe
- Making sure your flight provides food

                                WestJet however..

CARE-antees that:
- You are looked after and your flight is a relaxing and enjoyable one
- Your flight has food that is fresh AND free.

What do you guys think of this “Care antee” program ? Do you think other airlines should implement a similar program ?

Introductory Post: Why Westjet ?

WestJet is a Canadian airline carrier that was founded in 1996.  WestJets highly values customer care and uses their top notch service as a driving force towards their success. Combined with both their low priced flights and their outstanding customer service, Westjet has been able to successfully distinguish themselves from their competitors.

In this blog, I will highlight and explain:
- Westjet’s customer service
- effective workplace operations
- core values and practices

Future Questions I will answer
*Why do you think WestJet heavily prioritizes customer service compared to other airlines ?

*Since customer service is heavily prioritized, what do you think it's like to be an employee at WestJet ? How are the employees treated ?
Question for you: Have you ever had a WestJet experience ? If so, what was it like ?
